About the BlueFrog:
The front man Patrick Ellis of San Diego, California, performed
in Germany from 1997 ~ 2000 with various local bands (Holy
Rats, Sailer Brothers, Midnight Hour, Cherry Red, and the
Box Cars) throughout Southern Germany.
In 2001 Patrick Ellis returned to San Diego and with Alan
Adamson formed the original “Bluefrog and Company”. The Tuesday night House Band for “Buffalo Joes” in
the Gas Lamp quarter of downtown San Diego, the band hosted
one the most respected Blues Jams in the San Diego area. The
Band appeared on the NBC “Good-Morning Show” and
performed at several local venues. In February 2003 (At the
request of Uncle Sam) Patrick moved to Seoul Korea and fronted
several bands including the re-establishment of BlueFrog and
Company.
Why BlueFrog? Well the name actually comes from a nickname
Patrick earned in Germany as a Navy Diver who played Rock and
Blues at the local clubs.
Combining the Blues Harmonica influences of Little Walter,
Jimmy Reed, Kim Wilson, Sonny Boy Williams, and Rod Piazza,
with the guitar and keyboard styles of SRV, Allman Brothers,
Doors, Lynrd Skynrd, and his own original music, the band quickly
became popular with the large expat crowd.
The band toured for the United Servicemen’s Organization
(USO) throughout South Korea performing for thousands of U.S.
military personnel. Patrick has appeared several times with
Korean Artist “ Kim Mok-Kyung” and Sinchon Blues
on several televised concerts and numerous live performances
throughout Seoul Korea.
Patrick released his first CD “ Seoul Full of Blues” in
February 2005. The Album received great revues from “Garageband.com” for
it’s release of three original songs "Baby Come
Back Home”, “Daddy’s Going Uptown”,
and “Bluefrog Boogie”.
Patrick’s sound has been compared to the “ The
Doors meet the Rolling Stones”, “Kim Wilson meets
Led Zeppelin”. “Blues meets Rock”, “Dire
Straits meet John Cougar.”
Now Patrick has come home and is already kicking up the dance
floor before the suitcases have had time to collect dust.
BlueFrog’s motto “It’s not about me ~ It’s
about the music”
